Jill Hacke — Founder & Head Groomer

Hi, I'm Jill Hacke, owner and groomer at The Proper Pup Grooming.
My journey into professional grooming has been anything but ordinary. Right after high school, I attended National Academy of Beauty Arts, where I earned my cosmetology license and began my career in the beauty industry. While I enjoyed the experience, I eventually realized my true passion was leading me in a different direction.

After relocating to the Lake of the Ozarks, I had the opportunity to train under a competitive professional dog groomer, where I developed a strong foundation in grooming techniques, breed standards, and precision styling. When I returned home, I continued my education at Petropolis Grooming Academy, graduating with the skills and confidence to pursue grooming as my lifelong career. Today, with over 20 years of professional grooming experience, I can honestly say I can't imagine doing anything else. Working with dogs is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Every pet deserves to be treated with patience, kindness, and respect, and I strive to make each grooming appointment a calm, positive experience.

Whether your dog needs a routine bath and trim, a breed-specific style, or extra patience due to anxiety or special needs, my goal is to ensure they leave looking great, feeling comfortable, and excited to come back. KC Mannisi — Specialist Bather & Dryer

Hi! I’m KC Mannisi, bather/dryer at The Proper Pup. I have been bathing professionally for over 7 years, starting at a dog boarding facility followed by a high-volume grooming salon where I was the primary bather. Now, working at The Proper Pup feels like what I’ve truly been waiting for. Jill and I foster a calm, low-noise environment with minimal stressors to keep your dog feeling as comfortable as possible.

I love what I do and I can’t imagine not working with dogs every day. The best part of the job for me is when a fearful dog begins to trust you during the process—it’s such a rewarding feeling when you can see their anxiety decrease as well as their excitement to be back and see you again.

I have a soft spot for Westies and Chihuahuas, as I used to own both breeds, and it’s so exciting to me to see a rarer breed walk through our doors, however, I appreciate all breeds and mixes and all of their unique personalities and little quirks. I look forward to meeting and forming positive relationships with all of your pups at The Proper Pup!
